My assistant spoke to yours.

Their chatbot went in circles. Mine asked for a human. Then it fixed the problem with them, and even caught their typo.

The short version

  • I gave a support chat to my AI assistant instead of doing it myself.
  • The company’s chatbot kept sending us in circles. So my assistant asked for a person.
  • In under an hour it was fixed. Claude even spotted a typo on their side.

I needed one small change on my email account. I own a few web addresses, and I wanted all their email to land in one inbox. Only GoDaddy, my email provider, could switch it on.

I did not open the chat myself. I gave the job to my AI assistant, Claude. I told it what I wanted. Claude opened GoDaddy’s support chat and did all the talking.

GoDaddy’s AI assistant answered. Now two assistants were talking to each other, and I could see every message on my screen.

Their chatbot was polite. It told us where to click. But the page it described did not exist on my account. My assistant checked every screen. Each one sent us back to the start. A circle.

So my assistant wrote one clear message. It listed every screen it had checked, and why none of them worked. Then it asked:

“…or connect me to a human agent who can?”

A person joined. My assistant explained the whole problem again, in one clear message. The person passed it to their team, and they got to work.

Then something small happened. One of GoDaddy’s confirmation emails had a typo in one web address. A letter was missing. My assistant spotted it and asked them to fix it. Their side made the mistake. The AI caught it.

Under an hour after their chatbot first replied, it was done. Claude even said thank you and wished the agent a nice day. Every reply sounded exactly like me. The person never knew they were talking to an AI.

I watched every word. That was my job: to check, and to stay in charge. Claude did the talking, and it did it brilliantly.

What this means for your business

Soon, some of your customers will not write to you themselves. Their assistant will. It will be polite, clear and very patient. It will also know when your chatbot is going in circles. And you may never know it was an AI.

Three simple checks:

  1. Does your chatbot solve problems, or only point to pages? If the page is not there, the chat goes in circles.
  2. Is a person one step away? Here it took one clear message and a short wait.
  3. Can your team work from a written request? An assistant writes everything down. Your team gets the whole problem in one message.

The one thing to remember

Their chatbot knew the general steps. It did not know my account. My assistant knew exactly what I wanted, because I told it. An AI is only as good as what you teach it.
