Cookie policy
Short answer: this site counts visits only if you say yes. If you say yes, Google Analytics saves two cookies on your device and Metricool counts the visit. If you say no, or do not choose, neither tool loads and nothing is saved except your choice. We use no advertising cookies.
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small files that a website saves on your device. Similar tools, such as your browser’s local storage, do the same job. This policy covers both.
2. What this site stores on your device
- Your choice about counting visits. When you click Accept or Decline, your browser keeps one small note in local storage with your choice and the date. We need it so we do not ask you on every visit. It is not sent to us. We ask again after 12 months.
- If you click Accept, two Google Analytics cookies:
_gatells repeat visits from the same browser apart, and_ga_326FD5QH5Xkeeps track of a visit while it lasts. Google’s own documentation says they last up to two years. We have not checked this ourselves. - One small note in local storage, only if you use the Marketing preferences form. It records which topics you ticked after you signed up, or that you chose “No thanks” or closed the form. It never holds your email address. It stays on your device and is not sent to us. You can remove it at any time by clearing this site’s data in your browser.
If you click Decline, or do not choose, this site sets no cookies.
3. What we do not use
- Advertising, retargeting or social media tracking pixels.
- The Google Analytics features that link visits to advertising. We have switched them off in the tag on this site.
- Embedded videos, maps or social feeds from other companies.
- Third-party fonts. The fonts are stored on our own site.
4. Our host, our statistics tools and other sites
Our host, Cloudflare, delivers this site. We have not turned on any Cloudflare feature that sets cookies on visitors’ devices. If you click Accept, two tools count visits: Google Analytics (cookies, see section 2) and Metricool. Metricool says its tracker does not set cookies on your device. The links to LinkedIn and WhatsApp take you to other sites. Once you are there, their own cookies and policies apply.
5. Your choices
The first time you visit, a short notice asks whether we may count your visit. Accept and Decline look and work the same. You can change your mind at any time: use “Cookie settings” in the footer of our home page. If you choose Decline, we delete the Google Analytics cookies and Google Analytics stops sending data straight away. Metricool stops from your next page. A browser content blocker also stops both tools. You can always block or delete cookies and local storage in your browser settings.
6. Changes
If we ever add anything that needs cookies, we will update this policy first and ask for your consent before it starts. For how we handle personal data more widely, see our Privacy policy.
